How many different ICE QIK® models are available?
Four ICE QIK® models are available. The ICE QIK® -500 produces up to 380 pounds per 24 hour day. The ICE QIK® -1000 produces up to 811 pounds per 24 hour day. The ICE QIK® -1200 produces up to 1010 pounds per 24 hour day. The ICE QIK® -1800 produces up to 1540 pounds per 24 hour day. These numbers are based from a 90° F air and a 70° F water. The 500 model has storage capacity of 500 lbs. The 1000 and 1200 models have 650 lbs. storage capacity. The 1800 model had 900 storage capacity.
What are the usage costs on the 1000 machine? Should I just double the numbers from the 500 machine?
The electrical usage costs on the 1000 machine are slightly more than the numbers from the 500 machine. Keep in mind that the 1000 ice machine operates on 220 volts which reduces the amperage. We have calculated an electricity cost to produce 8 lbs of ice to be $0.04 with the 500 series machine. It is estimated that the cost to produce 8 lbs of ice with the 1000 series machine to be $0.05. The water usage cost would be the same as the 500 for each 8 lbs of ice produced which is approximately $0.005. Consequently, the utility cost to produce 8 lbs of ice with the 500 series machine is about 4.5 cents and the utility cost to produce 8 lbs with the 1000 series is about 5.5 cents. The rolled bag cost is about 6.5 cents for the 8 lb bag.
What info have you gotten on the machine being able to send service (Freon level, no more bags, etc…) and sales (vends, money changer full, etc…) information over a phone line (modem)? What will that cost?
These features can be accomplished with custom control specifications. The cost of each unit would change based on the programming and hardware costs required by the new control system specification.
What is the base price on the 1000 machine and what are the numbers for financing that machine?
Contact your local distributor for prices and listing opportunities.
What is the cost of putting different graphics than what is shown?
Custom graphics setup cost is approximately $400 including one draft revision.
What other add-ons are there to the machine that would drive up the cost and what are their prices?
Additional options and accessories include 8 lb. replacement rolled bags per 1,000 $67 16 lb. replacement rolled bags per 1,000 $145 Replacement water filter cartridge $67 Marketing Price Label $5 Marketing Button $1 Logo Shirt $18 Logo Cap $15 (Prices, of course, are subject to change.)
How are the coils protected in the machine? To what extent is the warranty?
The condenser coils are located on the rear of the ice machine approximately 6' above the floor. Three years parts and labor warranty on the coils and other miscellaneous components, five years parts and labor on the evaporator, five years parts and three years labor on the compressor.
What can you offer in way of any kind of training on repairs, maintenance, etc… on the machine?
We have 2 service schools here at the plant each year. The spring school is held in late January or early February and the fall school is held in late October or early November. We try to schedule the schools so that they don't conflict with the NACS convention or the expos that we participate in during the early spring. One of our associates has attended factory training school at Ice-O-Matic. He can instruct maintenance personnel on machine operation, maintenance and repair.
Can you put a larger bill holder in the machine and how much does that cost?
We can go to a 500 bill acceptor for an additional cost of $70.00. The control system can be redesigned to custom specifications. The cost of each unit would change based on the software and hardware costs required by the new control system specification.
How long does it take a machine to produce 8-10 lbs of ice (one vend) when empty?
The 500 series will produce 6.25 lbs every 15 minutes and the 1000 series will produce 9 lbs. every 15 minutes, 12 lbs. every 15 minutes on the 1200 series and 14 lbs. every 15 minutes on the 1800 series.
How many vends maximum can I expect out of the 500 and 1000 machines at an 8 lb (or ten or twelve…) vend?
If you start with a full bin, you can expect to vend up to 80 eight pound bags or 65 ten pound bags from the 500 machine. If you start with a full bin, you can expect to vend up to 135 eight pound bags or 115 ten pound bags from the 1000 machine.
If the machine is set to dispense 8 lbs per vend and the machine has less than 8lbs will the machine not accept money and say it’s empty or dispense a partial bag?
The electronic eye must see ice for the machine to accept a bill. The electronic eye is above the auger. The auger holds slightly more than one bag of ice. The machine is designed to not accept a dollar unless a full vend is available.
What do you suggest as the safest, easiest and least expensive way to move the machines from one location to another?
Most operators have no need to move a machine since it is set in place when delivered and installed. To move a single machine, we recommend a Chevy 2500 long bed or a similar Ford series with an X-Tra lift by Stellar Industries. You can see an X-Tra lift at www.stellarndustries.com. Click on the X-Tra lift button on the right. You will also need a pallet jack. For installation you will need basic plumbing and electrical tools.
What are the details on what needs to be done to become a dealer?
We call companies that deal directly with us distributors. In order to become a distributor one needs financial stability with excellent service history. Purchase and pay for one unit to hookup for display in your warehouse or showroom. Stock a few basic parts. Have equipment necessary to load, deliver, unload and install an ICE QIK® . Have a marketing plan for your specified market area. Continued excellent customer support history. Designate the area that you prefer by counties (must be contiguous) and submit to us for review. You will be protected within your territory in that all inquires that come to us by advertising, shows, word of mouth, etc. will be forwarded to you. You also have the right to establish dealers within your territory but you ultimately will be responsible for their performance. You will have the right to set your prices with your dealers if you decide to establish dealerships. You will have the opportunity to expand your territory if no one has taken an adjacent area.
Is ICE QIK® protected by any patents, trademarks, etc?
Yes. The ICE QIK® name is a registered trademark and the machine design is protected by a U.S. utility patent, number 6, 912, 873. |
